Neck Pain

My name is Patty G. I am 35 years of age and live in Metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia. I have Spasmodic Torticollis Dystonia (cervical dystonia.). My head wants to turn to the right and slightly forward. I have had this very disturbing disorder since I was 19 years old, but was not correctly diagnosed until I was about 23 years of age. I was treated with medication alone up until 2 and 1/2 years ago when I decided to use Dr. Matthews Gwynn as my neurologist because he is one of only a few neurologists in Georgia that is trained in administering the Botox® injections. I go to one of his offices located on Johnson Ferry Rd. in North Atlanta every 3 months for my injections. Dr. Gwynn is a very compassionate, intelligent and understanding doctor that is truly interested and concerned with each of his patients. For these qualities I have much respect for him. As for the Botox® itself, it has greatly lessened the involuntary strong pulling sensation of my head. I travel about 150 miles round trip for these injections. One may ask, "Why so far?" My response is because the Botox® treatments have had a wonderful impact on my life. Before them I was very self-conscious of my head pulling to the side. I would get jobs such as cleaning work (I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with this kind of employment, it just was not the kind of work that I truly wanted to do). My employment interest is the medical field and has been since I was a teenager. Well with much thanks to Dr. Matthews Gwynn, the Botox® , and some medication I am now going to college in pursuit of a career in the medical field, I have much more confidence in myself. With the positive effects due to the combination of Botox®, Dr. Gwynn , and prescribed medication could go on and on.
