Atlanta Neurology is a longstanding establishment for neurological medical care in the metro Atlanta area. Atlanta Neurology’s original history and origin dates back to 1969 when its predecessor, the Atlanta Neurological Clinic, was founded as one of the first private neurology clinics in Atlanta. In 1991, the Atlanta Neurological Clinic divided due to geographical location, growth, and patient need thus forming Atlanta Neurology.
For over three decades, Atlanta Neurology has served the North Atlanta area. Our clinic is conveniently located in Building One of the Lakeside Commons complex on Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs. We are directly across from Atlanta’s iconic King and Queen Buildings and just minutes away from “Pill Hill,” the region’s premier healthcare district. This renowned medical corridor is home to Northside Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), and numerous specialty and outpatient medical practices, making our location both easy to find and ideally situated within one of metro Atlanta’s leading centers for medical care. I currently see another practitioner at Dr. Gwynn's office for my migraines (Brandy Hughes) but was referred to get an EMG done at this office to see if my Carpal Tunnel had come back. Thankfully, they have a specialist that comes into their office about once a week to do this 20-minute nerve test. After completing this test, I was then immediately seen by Dr. Gwynn, who did a muscle test to see if I had any other Neurological issues going on with my upper extremities. He was so personable, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Recently, I have met with a few new doctors that did not have this incredible bedside manner and it really makes a difference. Also, their front office assistant gets you checked in quickly and is so welcoming. I can't say enough good things about this practice.
Dr. Gwynn was professional, personable, friendly, and helpful. Addressed all my needs, took care of everything at the appointment. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience at a neurologist.
I arrived 6 weeks ago unable to speak clearly, keep my eyes open, walk straight, or chew. Within 10 minutes Dr. Gwynn had given me a preliminary diagnosis. He was clear and completely explained the disease and treatment protocols. At all times, he was kind, understanding, compassionate, and extremely knowledgeable. When 3 weeks later my disease took an unexpected turn to a crisis, he got me into St. Joe's immediately, contacted the neurology department doctors and kept track of my progress during my entire 1 week stay. The office staff is pleasant and professional and in particular his assistant responded quickly to all my questions and concerns. This is a great office and I could not recommend it more highly.
I travel 2 hours to see Dr. Gwynn. He is worth the 2 hours getting there. Best care and VERY PATIENT! I receive Botox injections for Cervical Dystonia. He is always on time. The office people are awesome too!
I have been a patient of Atlanta Neurology for about 2 years and suffer from chronic migraines. I am very happy with the professional staff especially Brandy Hughes and Laurie Chastain. There was a time when I traveled to the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago, IL for several years because the other Neurology and Headache specialists I saw provided no help or effective treatment plans. Not sure what or where I be now if it were not for Atlanta Neurology!
Atlanta Neurology called to fit me in earlier than original appointment due to a cancellation with their Nurse Practitioner, Brandy Hughes. I have been dealing with excruciating headaches causing vision disturbances and was put on probation at work due to these issues. I was so nervous nobody could “fix” me. Terrified I’d lose my job. Nice front staff. Signed in. I did wait for 15-20 minutes, but I’m used to waiting for an hour or more to see a provider. Brandy was delightful. Made me feel at home and would actually listen to my problems vs. cutting me off like other doctors. I would make her my PCP if I could. I’m very happy with my experience and would recommend to others. My headaches are better now also so her plan worked.
Matthews Gwynn, MD recently saw my 83-year-old mother after her ER brain scan revealed lesions. Though he did not have good news for our family, he was very kind and patient with both my mother, father, my sister, and I as we navigated a new diagnosis of dementia. There are no cures or treatments available, so his advice was not medical, it was more about life changes that all of us could expect. We are grateful for his professionalism and practical advice.
I wanted to let you know how pleased I have been and confident in recommending, Christa Darr, NP-C, to my injured workers, adjusters, and co-workers. Ms. Darr completes one of the most extensive neurological evaluations I’ve been a party to, with concern and empathy for the patient, while also sorting through what is and isn’t related to an accident. Her ability to focus in on the diagnosis and develop a treatment plan with a successful resolution is a true asset.
Atlanta Neurology, specifically Dr. Gwynn, has saved my sanity for over a decade! I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis) at least 35 years ago. It has increasingly gotten worse and more painful over the years. Luckily, I found Dr. Gwynn. He has worked with me in changing medications and dosages over the years to greatly alleviate my symptoms. His professionalism and knowledge are exceeded only by his great sense of humor! I certainly appreciate him and highly recommend his practice for anyone needing neurological care. His office staff is equally professional, friendly, and helpful. Judy is great. Her helpful attitude on the phone interview years ago is actually the reason I switched to Dr. Gwynn! And Laurie and the rest of the staff are fun and always willing to help!
